New Year Resolutions 2014

Happy new year everybody! First blog post of 2014, woohooooo. I really need to find a name for all my lovely readers, something more exciting than 'everybody'. You know like Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter calls her's Sprinklerinos. There isn't an awful lot you can do with 'hollylikestoblog'. Oh well. If you can think of anything let me know!

The new year started with a bang at my friend's house this year. This is the first year I have spent Hogmanay outwith the company of my immediate family so it was different but that made it all the more exciting. Don't you just love turning on Jackie Bird for the big countdown? (If you are Scottish, you will agree). What I still haven't managed to get my head around is the fact that it is now 2014. Like, seriously? Where did all the time go? It is so unreal to be saying I go to Nepal THIS YEAR for what is basically a gap year crammed in to three weeks. Eeeeehhhh I am so excited! More to come on this topic.

Every year I make resolutions and every year I break them. However, this year will be DIFFERENT. I am absolutely determined to make it this year, I kind of have to complete some of them if I am honest.

1// Get fit
There is no way I can go to Nepal in the state that I am just now. I don't mean that I am fat, because I know I am not, but there is definitely some room for improvement in my fitness levels. I will be doing a week long trek in the Himalayas and some hands-on work which may include something like helping to build schools (it hasn't been decided yet) and that is not something I can just expect to be able to naturally do. I know that my fitness levels and stamina are atrocious so the plan is to get fit. I'm going to start going to the gym - hopefully -  and do some Blogilates work outs to prepare me.

Technically, this could have been included in my first resolution but the reasoning behind it is different. I want to start doing some squats. The reason is... I have a rubbish bum. It is common knowledge that squats tone your bum and mine is just so shapeless and crap that I want to perk it up a bit.

3// Buckle down and study
This year is basically one of the most important years of my life as we are REPEATEDLY told at school when they go on and on and on about how crucial it is to do well in your highers so that you can get in to the university course that you want and 'shape the rest of your life'. So yes, it will be a hell of a lot of work. There is no way I can get A's without studying and it is really not long till I do my exams. A mere few months. Oh god.

4// Try more with the blog
I have been a bit of a slacker recently, if I am to be totally honest myself, and have been completely neglecting my blog. This year I want to be a far more consistent blogger and make my posts look more professional. I am even planning on buying a brand new camera in order to get better photographs to include in my posts. In reality, this resolution may be pretty difficult due to previously mentioned exams and Nepal trip but I will try and schedule a few posts so that it isn't completely bare. If you have any camera recommendations (good quality photos but not too expensive) then let me know pretty pretty please.

5// Not be so shy
I am a very shy person. It is so glaringly obvious, even to myself. Although I cannot help the fact that my face is like a very very red tomato if I am even remotely embarrassed, I do want to try and be a bit more confident in myself. I feel like I miss out on things because I am such a shy person. That is not the way to live. As they say, you only live once. (God I hate when people say YOLO.)

And that is it, my resolutions for 2014! I will try my best to keep you all updated with how I get on, I want to try and start doing more different posts rather than just the usual beauty ones to shake things up a bit. Remember to let me know what cameras you use for your own blog posts! Hope you all had a brilliant new year and have managed to stick to your resolutions so far...

  1. I love your resolutions! Squatting is something i need to do more of too, my bum needs it's perk back! Aha, also i can really relate to what you've said about being shy. I always tend to miss out on things or not take all my opportunities because i'm too shy to just go for it. Definitely need to stop holding myself back this year!

    1. Thank you! I really need to get on with this squatting business, pronto. I probably should've started already, before I know it January will be over and I will have made no effort towards my resolutions at all! Thanks for reading.

  3. You could call your readers "Ivies" as in "Holly and the Ivy" or plant related since you're a beauty blogger teaching other girls to embrace their individuality you could call your readers "flower buds" in hope that one day they will bloom to realise their beauty and that not everyone is for a example a tulip, but both tulips and lilies all have individual beauty. Hehe^^ XX

  4. You're going to Nepal?wow that's a great thing (:
