Evening Skincare Routine

I am a big believer in finding a good skincare routine that works for and sticking to it, with the exception of trying out new products every so often. For the most part, I use the same products day in day out and I can definitely say that my skin thanks me for it. I used to have really bad skin, with acne concentrated on my forehead and cheeks and I was really self-conscious about it. Several trips to the GP later, I was finally referred to a dermatologist where I was prescribed Roaccutane which was an absolute game changer. Now I only get the odd spot here and there at that time of the the month and even get compliments on how nice my skin looks (if I'd been told a year ago that I would soon get compliments for my skin, I would have laughed in your face). This is my nightly routine that I use to keep my skin soft and blemish-free (mostly).

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I use this to first of all remove all traces of makeup on my skin. I have tried Bioderma before but this is basically the same product but for less than half the price, so there is no need to waste my money. It removes mascara, eyeliner and foundation with a quick few swipes, ready to start cleansing.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
This is the epitome of all cleansers. It is legendary among bloggers and youtubers and rightly so, as I have never found another cleanser, or any skincare item in fact, that I love more than this. I like to remove my makeup before using this even though it does do a good job of that on its own, purely to keep my muslin cloths a bit cleaner and stop them from getting stained from mascara. It also means that I can use a bit less and make the bottle last longer (I'm all about making things last to save money) whilst still getting the full benefits of the cleanser. I wrote a review on this ages and ages ago but my opinion on it is still the same, so you can read that here.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
To be honest, I don't use this every night. I really only use it when I can be bothered but most of the time I am exhausted and just want to go to my bed. I love how fresh and smooth this leaves my skin feeling, and it still looks and feels the same when I wake up the next morning. Some toners can be really stripping but this doesn't dry my face out at all, nor does it leave a residue.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion
I'm not sure if I've been using this wrong because I don't know if it is meant for your body or your face but I use it on my face anyway and I really like the results it gives. It's not too thick so it doesn't make my skin really oily like I would expect if it was for your body, but it doesn't say anything about your face anywhere so I'm not sure. It's also an awfully large bottle for a face moisturiser, but the first one I had was just a small tube. This is really affordable for how much you get and even if you try it and it does make you oily, it works great on the rest of your body too!

And there we have it! I like to keep my routine fairly simple with minimal products because I don't want to overload my face. Well there's that, and I like my sleep too much to faff with too many products.

I'm also happy to announce that my end-of-school holiday is booked! Myself and a group of nine (I think) other girls are jetting off to sunny Malia in June for a week and I am super excited! 272 days and counting....
